Greek Brown Grain Rice from Thessaloniki
Cultivation Area: Thessaloniki Prefecture, North Greece
Cultivation: All our rice is grown in small family farms in the delta of Thessaloniki’s rivers and coastal areas. The relatively extensive sunshine in September and October in particular is conducive to the good nutrition of the grain which is important for its quality and nutritional value. Meanwhile, the abundant moisture, high temperatures and sunshine during the summer favour the growth and premium quality of rice. The soil has high water storing capacity and pH 6-6.5, considered excellent for farming.
Characteristics: Long grain rice that owes its brown/yellow colour to its skin. It is of high nutritional value and rich in nutrients due to restricted processing. It also has a lower glycemic index compared to traditional rice.
Tasting notes: Full taste and pleasant aroma that make it ideal for many healthy dishes.
